• The first and only app to include the full range of all steelpans and to have different steelpan instrument layouts ALL IN ONE APP using standardized steelpan layouts set forth by Trinidad and Tobago and Pantrinbago, the governing body of steelpan.

• Highest rated steelpan app on itunes.

• Created by a Trinidad and Tobago national who has been playing and teaching steelpan professionally for over 30 years and who has also patented and created the Worlds 1st Electronic Steelpan, the E-Pan.

This steelpan app is a one of a kind application for your ipad/iphone. The user will be able to play an entire range of a steelband/steel orchestra in this one application. The user can also do this in different styles in the form of a Tenor, a Double Seconds or a Six Bass. The sounds that you hear coming out of this application are real steelpan sounds/tones. They are not samples or computer generated.

Tapping your screen with your finger will produce a regular sound like playing the steelpan with a pan stick once. By keeping your finger on the snare drum icon and then keeping your finger on any note/chord after tapping the note/chord, you will be able to create a sustained rolling effect as though you were rolling with two pan sticks.

There are several steelpan screens. There is a Tenor steelpan screen, a Double Seconds steelpan screen and a Six Bass steelpan screen. With each of these layouts you can press the up and down arrows to change your octaves. As a result, although you are playing the Tenor layout on the Tenor screen, you can press the down button to get lower steelpan sounds/tones, covering the full range of the entire steelband/steel orchestra going as low as the Six Bass. The same applies to the Double Seconds and Six Bass screens. If you press the up arrow it will take you up to the high octaves in the Tenor range (octaves 4, 5, 6 and 7) or you can press the down arrow to go as low as octaves 1 and 2 in the Bass range.

Pros and cons of #1 STEELPAN APP app for iPhone and iPad

#1 STEELPAN APP app good for

Good work on creating this App all the different Steelpan instruments on one App now the whole can learn to play PAN then go in the panyard / musicroom and it will be much easier as you will be familiar with the note layout
This is a great app for the iPhone and iPad! Having access to play the different ranges of pans on one app is incredible! The rolling function is well thought out so that you can play rolled notes in combination with single notes just by holding the roll button and pressing the note twice. People who dont actually own a steelpan at home can practice on the app, which is identical to the note layout of a traditional 4ths and 5ths steelpan. Truly a great tool for learning/practicing the steelpan!
This is a great app, its great to be able to start learning steel pan at home. Especially being able to play double seconds and bass as well! Victoria, maybe you should check the volume on your iPod touch. Or check the iPods manual, because theres nothing wrong with the apps volume on my iPod touch or my friends iPhone. Its probably just an issue of the volume switch on the side being off or the volume being off.
Hi every one I want to let you know that this app is so great! You have a chose of the three main pans, the tanner, the double second, or the bass. This app gives you a chance to practice steel pan at home and any were els! So come and get this app because in stead of paying like three thousand dollars on each pan, why not just pay three dollars! -nikki
This app is great! It lets you play steelpan when youre anywhere! So when youre at home or on the move you always can play steelpan!!!
This app is awesome I can pull it out and just play steel pan, again awesome app!

Some bad moments

Very disappointing, i play the steel pan and i thought there would be some features at least. Nothing! It also freezes all the time and the pan hot spot do not activate properly. I can get the same or better with ordering a free steel drums app. Not worth 2.99 at all. Wast of my money. I want a refund!
The tones are good, and the range is fantastic, but the playablitity is glitchy. Sometimes the roll feature works, usually not. The notes dont consistently sound when tapped. The "play" area is too small to be functional on iPhone/iPod Touch. This is like a tiny little Roland Handsonic with shorts in the wiring. A good start that I hope to see get some major improvments in the near future. ~D!
It took me a few downloads and trials to finally figure out that the Ringer and Volume had to be turned on/up independent of the external volume...but after that I was very impressed with the quality of the steelpan sounds/samples...especially in the lower tones (bass pans). The drum roll button is not consistant as others stated. Overall, I think its the best steelpan/steeldrum App out there. Its #1 especially beacause of the access to different pans and excellent tones.
My number one steel drum app and I love it thanks! But I would love to have access to move my bass drums around...that would be very helpful because I played all mine is class differently so its extremely difficult to play the songs I learned on a app that has like all the bass turned around...thanks anyways I love the app!
Could be a bit more responsive, flicks usually come out awkward or not at all if done too fast. It cant differentiate between soft playing and loud and the bass & double 2nd layout is one Ive never seen before. No recording functionality either but it does its job fairly well. If you like pan youll probably like this app.
I was anxious to play "Jumbie" by Machel...but not for hell this app giving off any SOUND! A complete waste of my money!
